Experience Alnes Fyr

A historic lighthouse, cosy café, inspiring art gallery, and local culture at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean.

About the destination

Where the Atlantic meets a century of stories.

Alnes Fyr og Opplevelsessenter is a place to slow down. Perched at the tip of Godøya, our historic lighthouse has guided sailors for more than a century — today it welcomes anyone drawn to the sea, the sky, and the quiet rhythm of the Norwegian coast.

Beneath the tower you'll find a cosy café serving homemade fare, a gallery of local artists, and an intimate auditorium showing films of coastal life, fishing traditions, and the beam that has watched over these waters since 1937.

Fresh coffee, warm waffles, and a view that keeps going.

Our kitchen bakes daily — heart-shaped waffles with strawberry jam and sour cream, seasonal cakes, open sandwiches on rustic bread, and hearty soups on windier days. Coffee is roasted in Ålesund and poured slowly, the way it should be.

The Lighthouse

Climb the tower. Meet the horizon.

First lit in 1937, Alnes Fyr has stood watch over the mouth of Breisundet for generations. The spiral staircase inside the red-and-white tower leads to a panoramic gallery — on a clear day you can see all the way to the Sunnmøre alps in the east and open ocean to the west.
